About Us

A large group of Sundowns families smiling together outdoors on a residential strip to Ribby Hall. The group includes children, young people, and adults, some of whom have Down syndrome. Several people are seated on the ground, while others stand or use pushchairs. Everyone appears relaxed and happy, with Ribby Hall houses in the background.

Sundowns is a family-led charity based in Wirral, dedicated to supporting children, young people and adults with Down syndrome and their families.

We believe that every person with Down syndrome deserves the same opportunities to learn, grow, and be valued within their community.

From the early years through to adulthood, we provide practical support, inclusive activities, and pathways that help our members thrive at every stage of life.

Our work combines hands-on support with long-term vision.

We partner with local schools, health and social care services, and national organisations to ensure that people with Down syndrome across Wirral are fully included in education, employment, and community life.

Sundowns also acts as a voice for families, promoting awareness, improving communication support, and campaigning for fair and effective local services.

“[Sundowns] has been instrumental in building Nyla’s communication and social skills since we first went to signing for babies when she was 3 months old. We love taking part in the opportunities that the charity has given us including trips to Ribby Hall, wildings, Tam O Shanter's farm, SPACE and activity for all.”
