Signing for Babies celebrates World Down Syndrome Day 2015

Lots of socs

21 March 2015 marked the 10th anniversary of World Down Syndrome Day. Down Syndrome International encouraged people all over the world to choose activities and events to help raise awareness of what Down syndrome is, what it means to have Down syndrome, and how people with Down syndrome play a vital role in our lives and communities. Once again everyone across the world was invited to wear LOTS OF SOCKS on 21 March to get people talking about WDSD.

At Signing for Babies on Friday 20th March we celebrated World Down Syndrome day by wearing LOTS OF SOCKS!! And what socks they were!! Bright, spotty, odd- all sorts. Our families and helpers really made the effort to look the part. Joining us and supporting us were the staff at Seacombe Children’s Centre, and the pop-up café in particular, who decorated their café with socks and ran a very successful coffee morning and cake sale. They raised a wonderful £52 for Sundowns. Thank you so much to them for their support.  We also had a surprize visit from the Operational crews and members from the Fire Prevention Team from Wallasey Community Fire Station. They attended the Children’s Centre giving free fire safety advice and also showed the children and families around the fire engine.  We had a great morning!
